BOEMA GROTTO

The club and wine cellar in the vaulted underground of Casa Boema complements our 2012 project (the restaurant, atrium-courtyard, bars and attic). There ‘s not much one can add as decoration on XVIII century vaults. We positioned linear and spot lights to add value to the beautiful brick and stone masonry. The floor is risen as it functions as a complex air installation to keep moisture off. For the same reason, the brass panelling is detached from the wall and perforated as to allow the free air flow. All the elements we added are in brass, as the only contrasting material to the antique masonry texture. The bar counter has a simple geometric shape as a massive piece of solid brass. Brass bones and skulls seemed a familiar presence in the catacomb-like space and add a comic touch with their (not so) scarry LED eyes.
